The northwest Michigan Assisted Tree Range Expansion Project (ATREP) is a citizen science project designed to involve private landowners and community groups in reforestation and afforestation. To improve resiliency against climate change, the project recommends expanding the range of trees using tree species whose native ranges reach their upper limits in southern to mid-Michigan.
