A Special Trail Tuesday Event!
Feb. 25th, noon
Join Antrim Conservation District and CAKE CISMA for a special #TrailTuesday hike. CAKE CISMA will teach us about the threat of the hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) and how to survey for it by actively looking for it on the hemlock trees at the Cedar River Natural Area. HWA is a small insect that feeds on the stored energy reserves of hemlocks, slowly killing the tree.
Meet at the ACD office (4820 Stover Rd. in Bellaire) on Feb. 25th at noon to then head out to the Cedar River Natural Area (behind the office). Bring snowshoes, if you have them! Further, from November - March, the CAKE CISMA field crew is also taking taking requests for surveys of HWA, cost-free to landowners and partners through a grant project. For more information on this hike, or the HWA surveys, contact CAKE CISMA at [email protected] or (231)533-8363 x5. |
